So I've been told by some APs I know that this slot machine gets +ER when the Fel Beast jackpot odds get to be 1 in 5 or better. I was wondering if anybody here had experience with the machine that they'd care to share. In particular :
(1) Which bonus game should you be picking for the +ER (or if they are all the same ER, lowest variance);
(2) Is there a significant difference to the ER of the machine if you play for the minimum credits vs maximum credits, or will it just take 10x as long to hit the Fel Beast progressive?
and really:
(3) How would you even go about analyzing this game? I probably dumped $1500 coin-in without getting a catapult. Short of having access to a PAR sheet, how would you ever be able to figure out the odds of the catapult hitting?

The more '+ER' slots I play, the more I've come to doubt the info my AP buddies are sharing, and question whether I'm wonging into these slots correctly at all. I'm down around $500 lifetime trying to wong into the WMS G+ progressives, the Spielo machines, and the LOTR machine. Maybe it's best to just stick to UxP where the edge is crystal clear?
I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

1. Your buddies may very well be wrong. Do you know where they got this information from? Most slot games have multiple payback settings, so a profitable point to start playing in one casino may not be profitable in another.
2. Down $500 is nothing. You have not played anywhere near long enough for your results to be remotely meaningful. It's all random noise at this point. Any time the result of one spin could significantly change your lifetime results, your lifetime results are not significant. For games with large jackpots, it's entirely possible that you won't play enough in your entire lifetime for your results to be significant. Edge is not everything and playing with an edge does not guarantee profit.
3. You could figure out the odds by recording all your spins and determining the probability of each reel stop. The Wizard has done this for a few machines (look at his 'decontructing' pages on WoO) Unfortunately, if I remember the LoTR game correctly, shooting for the jackpots is determined by a single symbol showing up on a reel, so you would have to map a lot of spins (ie, enough for the symbol to show up many, many times) before you would have accurate results.

LasI would say 'in your entire life plus many many reincarnations'.
For those kind of jackpots, a cycle is in the order of multimillion. You need play many cycles to see the edge, if you ever have an edge at all.
winning streaks come and go, losing streak never ends.

The first time I played this it was at 1 in 4. 1 in 4 was a miss, 1 in 3 was a miss, 1 in 2 was a hit. I was betting max ($4) and each catapult cost me $300 real dollars. The Fel Beast was at $990 when it went down so it was ~$90 profit plus a boatload of points on my players card.
The next time I played it was at 1 in 5 and I figured I'd take a chance and maybe it would go sooner. After losing $800 real dollars without a catapult I said, 'Fuck this game'. Maybe if I caught a 1:2 in the future I might play it but otherwise LOL, no way.

There’s a better-than-average chance we could get into deep kimchi for this blog post. But we don’t care. We don’t live by society’s rules!

Feast your eyes on the top secret, new “The Lord of the Rings” slot machine, in all its surround sound glory, coming to a casino near you!

If a slot machine ever warranted a French kiss, this might just be the one.

Gor. Geous. And you’re seeing it here first.

We don’t have all the details about this new slot machine yet, but we know it’s based on one of the most successful sagas in the known universe. You know all the players: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Arwen (swoon!) and the always-hygienic Gollum…the list goes on and on.

This larger-than-life epic is set to become one of the most talked-about slot machines in recent memory. (They should put that quote in the ads for this slot machine, don’t you think?)

Of course, the game wouldn’t be nearly as buzzworthy if it didn’t have some additional coolness in the mix. Example? This isn’t an ordinary slot machine. It uses something called “Adaptive Gaming” technology, which allows you to save your game progress even if you casino hop, accumulate “miles” and unlock exclusive bonuses on your journey through Middle Earth.

FYI: If we are fired for leaking news about this new slot machine, we're going to say Orcs made us do it.

Being a Total Rewards loyalty program member (free to join, of course) means you can personalize your sign-in, earn “miles” more quickly, and you can even earn more based on your membership tier.

Bonus scoop! Our insider sources inform us that for the first time ever, players will be able to go online and play “mini-games” to earn bonus content. We love when worlds collide! We hear two of the mini-games are “Gandalf’s Fireworks” and “Middle Earth Mahjongg.”

Have we sufficiently conveyed our giddiness about the new “The Lord of the Rings” slot machine? It’s Mordor or bust, baby.

There are more Pulse of Vegas Blog exclusives to come. Unconfirmed reports are that this new slot machine will hit casino floors in Vegas resorts in late June-ish or early July. Hey, we’d be more specific, but we can only manage so much scoop in one day.
